SCORING

A panel of four judges will score each routine out of a total of 100 based on technical execution, performance, and choreography. Each routine will be awarded based on the average of their top three scores. The lowest score will be dropped.

DIAMOND - 95+

PLATINUM - 91-94.99

HIGH GOLD - 87-90.99

GOLD - 80-86.99

SILVER - 75-79.99

AWARDS

Session Awards

Selected by our panel of adjudicators at each awards session. ​​

​

  • Standouts of the Session - our judges will recognize routines that brought something special to the stage

  • Choreography of the Session - awarded to a routine that showcased exceptional choreography

​

Overall Awards

We award the same overalls in the Novice, Pre-Competitive, and Elite categories. ​​

  • We will award the top 10 solos in each age division

  • A top 5 will be awarded for duo/trios, groups, and lines in each age division​

​

standout dance challenge ambassadors

​

The top soloist in each Elite age division will be awarded the opportunity to become one of our SODC ambassadors for the 2027-2028 competitive season. This includes an invitation to participate in a professional dance photoshoot and videoshoot for SODC promotional materials, a free solo entry for any 2028 Standout Dance Challenge event, and a scholarship opportunity with one of our partner organizations. ​​Dancers must compete in the Elite division to be named a Standout Dance Challenge Ambassador.

Top Production

​

  • A top 3 will be awarded for productions​

  • A cash prize will be awarded to the Studio Director of the 1st Overall Production 

​

A minimum of three production entries must compete in order for the cash prize to be awarded. 

​

Adjudicator's Choice Awards

Our adjudicators will select routines for the following awards:

​

  • Standout Choreography of the Competition in each of the Novice, Pre-Competitive and Elite divisions

  • Standout Performance of the Competition in each of the Novice, Pre-Competitive and Elite divisions

The highest scoring routine of the competition in each discipline will be awarded in the Novice, Pre-Competitive and Elite divisions. This is not limited to group performances and will include solos, duos, and trios as well. ​​​

Scholarships

Adjudicators will select dancers for a variety of educational opportunities including workshops, conventions, and industry experiences. A full list of sponsors and scholarship prizes will be announced on our social media page.​​

Standout Champions

Awarded in the Novice, Pre-Competitive, and Elite categories. ​​

  • 12 & Under Champion will be awarded to the top group or line in the 12 years & under age divisions 

  • 13 & Over Champion will be awarded to the top group or line in the 13 years & over age divisions  

  • Cash prizes will be awarded to the Studio Director for all Standout Champion awards

  • A studio must have a minimum of 5 groups or lines entered into the competition across any division to be eligible for the Standout Champion awards
